I slutningen af 3.g skrev jeg min SRP om Bitcoin og de makroøkonomiske implikationer det kan have for et land at indføre kryptovaluta som statslig valuta. Nedenfor er ‘abstractet’ gengivet:
Bitcoin (BTC) has since its original launch in 2009 gained worldwide attention. However, even though the trading price has increased dramatically, it remains unknown whether or not the so- call currency has meaningful socioeconomic implications. This paper, therefore, examines the macroeconomic consequences of adapting BTC as a legal tender, while simultaneously giving the reader a mathematical insight into Bitcoins signature algorithm, seck251k1. The project will in this context argue that there has arisen discrepancy between the narrative of Bitcoin as a secure mean of payment, and reality, where BTC is, cryptographically secure, but remains highly volatile and represents a neoliberal, heterodox, view on state interference in economy. A view, that currently remains ideological and requires further scientific examination. The paper is structured so that it starts by giving a brief introduction to how currency markets influence the macroeconomic position of nations, such as their ability to compete in global markets. Thereafter the paper will examine Bitcoin's signature algorithm mathematically, as an understanding of Bitcoin's cryptographic security is fundamental for everybody wanting a thorough insight into the mechanism behind BTC. Finally, the paper will discuss the consequences of a state using a decentralized monetary unit, by taking a closer look at El Salvador’s decision to accept Bitcoin as legal tender. The project will in this regard assess, whether or not BTC can be seen as macroeconomically secure. The theoretical framework for this discussion will be given by Austrian school and modern monetary theory.
